Essex cricketer Robin Das has been charged with two counts of rape. The 24-year-old was arrested in August 2025 after reports concerning a woman in Brixton in March 2024.
Das is due to appear at Inner London Crown Court on October 9. Essex confirmed that he was suspended after police charged him in July and remains suspended while the case proceeds.
Das made his Essex debut in the Vitality Blast as an 18-year-old in September 2020. His most recent appearance for the county came in a One-Day Cup match against Middlesex on July 21, two days before the charge was reported.
Essex said the alleged incident took place outside club activities and that it was cooperating with the England and Wales Cricket Board, the Professional Cricketers’ Association and the Cricket Regulator. The club declined further comment because legal proceedings are under way.
