Zimbabwe government spokesperson Nick Mangwana said on X that all 6 people aboard the helicopter died in the crash in the Marondera rural area east of Harare. He said those on board included a prominent businessman, 3 other passengers and 2 pilots.
Mangwana had earlier said the aircraft carried 4 passengers, then edited his post. He said police would formally identify the victims in due course. Local online outlet ZimLive reported that businessman Wicknell Chivayo was among them, but that identification had not been officially confirmed.
Police said the aircraft carrying 6 people crashed at about 17:00 local time (1500 GMT) on Wednesday and that emergency services were responding.
Police spokesperson Paul Nyathi said the bodies were badly burned and authorities needed a formal identification process. The report did not give a cause for the crash.
