Police records show the accident occurred between 4:45 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on September 23, 2026, on the northbound carriageway of Nanabhai Moosa Marg, near the Afghan Church area. A Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said the rider lost control of the TVS Raider (registration MH 01 FK 3556) and struck the protective wall of the Gangotri Building.
The victims have been identified as Sumit Satwan Valmiki, 22, and his younger brother Sanju Satwan Valmiki, 15, both residents of Ganeshmurti Nagar in Cuffe Parade and originally from Pipri in Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun district. Both were riding the two‑wheeler, with Sumit at the handlebars and Sanju as the pillion.
Emergency services transported the injured brothers to G.T. Hospital, but medical officer Dr. Vivek declared them dead before they could be admitted. An accidental death (ADR) entry has been logged with the police.
A forensic team arrived at the scene shortly after the incident to collect samples and preserve evidence. The police on duty reported the crash to their superiors at around 6 a.m.
The tragedy follows a spate of fatal road accidents in Mumbai over the past week, including a BMW that fell 70 feet from the Costal Road bridge during the Ganesh festival, killing three people, and a taxi crash in Borivali East on September 18 that claimed the life of an Indigo cabin crew member.
