French police arrest suspect in Limoges town hall arson investigation
French police arrested a suspect in the arson attack on Limoges town hall on October 20. The prefecture confirmed the arrest, Le Figaro reported.
The newspaper said officers from the Bordeaux RAID unit carried out the operation in Val-d’Issoire. Local broadcaster Flash FM also reported the arrest, citing Limoges prosecutors.
The town hall was set on fire during Saturday’s protests. The heritage building dates from 1883. Flames damaged its facades and its 43-meter bell tower collapsed.
The anti-terrorism police unit is investigating alongside Limoges’ organized and specialized crime division.
