Galaktionov says Lokomotiv failed to fill several squad gaps

The head coach said the club was unable to strengthen several positions over the summer. Lokomotiv has seven points after nine league matches.
Mikhail Galaktionov told Sport-Express he was pleased with the players who joined Lokomotiv, but the club still failed to fill several positions. He said those weaknesses had also been present in the season when the team won bronze.
Lokomotiv finished third in the 2025/26 Russian Premier League, according to the club. After nine matches in the new campaign, the team has seven points. Sport-Express lists it 14th in the table.
The coach’s comment concerned squad depth and positions the club had hoped to strengthen, rather than the performance of its new arrivals. Galaktionov did not name the positions or explain why the transfers did not happen. Lokomotiv’s next match, against Fakel, is scheduled for October 10.
