Global News reports seven dead in CFB Wainwright explosion

At least seven people were killed and dozens injured in an explosion and fire at Canada's CFB Wainwright in Alberta, Global News reported, citing military sources.
The explosion occurred during a live-fire exercise on the afternoon of October 17. The broadcaster reported damage to gas infrastructure. Winds gusting up to 100 km/h helped the fire spread.
Defence Minister David McGuinty confirmed deaths and injuries without giving a toll. Prime Minister Mark Carney said a serious incident had caused a major fire.
Ambulance crews and STARS air ambulances transported casualties. The municipal district of Wainwright established an emergency operations centre.
