Hewitt demands answers from Infantino after FIFA commercial plan apology

FIFA vice president Debbie Hewitt said Gianni Infantino must answer outstanding questions about the FIFA Forward Enterprise commercial proposal. Without those answers, she said, he would not be fit to lead the organisation.

Hewitt, who chairs England's Football Association, spoke after the FIFA Council meeting in Zurich on October 15. The BBC reported her conditional assessment, linking Infantino's fitness to lead to whether he provided the necessary answers.

Infantino acknowledged mistakes in the handling of FIFA Forward Enterprise. He stressed that it had been a proposal aimed at increasing investment in member associations rather than an agreed decision.

The plan envisaged offering private investors up to twenty percent of commercial rights to FIFA competitions to raise four point two billion dollars. It was withdrawn after criticism. In its official account of the meeting, FIFA said the initiative had been permanently withdrawn and would not return in any form.
