New Delhi’s contemporary gallery ChampaTree will open a Hyderabad venue on October 10 inside the Artyk showroom in Jubilee Hills, alongside a group exhibition featuring 17 artists.
The new space will occupy a little over 2,000 square feet on the lower-ground floor, with some works also displayed on the showroom’s other two floors beside furniture. The gallery aims to show how art sits in lived-in interiors rather than only in a conventional exhibition room.
The opening will coincide with Where We Continue, a group exhibition featuring 17 artists from across India. ChampaTree was co-founded by curator and entrepreneur Archana Sapra and visual artist Pooja Bahri. The gallery grew from their Art For Art Foundation, established in 2011 to support artistic practice, mentorship and dialogue.
Artyk founder Prachi Agarwal told The Hindu that bringing art into the furniture showroom extends its design focus. She said the two fields share an audience interested in aesthetics and craftsmanship. Sapra said art should feel at home in everyday spaces.
Visitors will be able to see works in settings resembling domestic interiors rather than relying on digital room visualisers. The Hyderabad venue is ChampaTree’s first branch outside Delhi. Its founders said they want to continue the foundation’s sustained engagement with artists while remaining open to the character of the new city.
