Any agreement with Tehran must ensure that Iran never obtains nuclear weapons, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said.
Rubio spoke at a press conference with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis. According to Lenta.ru, the secretary of state said any terms acceptable to Washington must rule out Iran acquiring nuclear weapons.
“Anything they agree to that is acceptable to the United States must guarantee that Iran will never have nuclear weapons,” Rubio said. Lenta.ru also reported his statement that Tehran would “never have a nuclear program.”
The report also cites an earlier statement by Rubio that European countries should assume most of their defense spending.
