IRGC warns ships against disabling identification systems in Hormuz

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps navy said on October 11 that it would regard ships disabling navigation and identification systems in the Strait of Hormuz as hostile.

The warning threatened firm action against such vessels. Iranian state media carried the statement, which was also reported by AP and TASS. The quoted wording did not specify what punitive measures would be taken.

The IRGC also said three tankers had struck mines and caught fire since October 10 after violating Tehran’s transit rules. That account represents the Iranian military’s claim, rather than an independently confirmed account of all three incidents.

Iranian Supreme National Security Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei had linked reopening the strait to Washington accepting seven conditions set by Tehran. The navy’s latest warning concerns how vessels operate while passing through the waterway.
