The Associated Press reported that five students, two teachers and two passersby were hurt in Ostrołęka. One person was seriously injured, but authorities said none of the injuries were life-threatening. Police arrested the 19-year-old student near the school. Prosecutors said he had injured himself and was taken to hospital. No motive was reported.
On Wednesday, a knife fight broke out at Sezai Karakoç Anatolian High School in Istanbul’s Esenyurt district. Euronews’ Turkish service reported that two students were injured, one of them seriously. A 16-year-old student was detained, the outlet said. The reason for the fight is under investigation.
A day earlier, on Oct. 6, an attack took place at a middle school in the Başakşehir district. A 15-year-old girl stabbed eight pupils, and one child later died in hospital. Turkish media and officials said the suspect was detained.
Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano brought the incidents together in a report on school violence. Investigations into each case are proceeding separately. The reports did not establish a common cause for the attacks.
