Explosions were heard in Kyiv overnight from October 6 to 7 amid a missile threat. Ukrainska Pravda, citing the city administration and mayor, reported two people killed in the Darnytskyi district. The outlet said impacts were also recorded in other parts of the capital. CNN Brasil reported that Ukraine’s Air Force detected Russian Tu-95 bombers taking off and that Kyiv’s military administration issued an air-raid alert. Ukrainian officials listed Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk region among areas potentially threatened.
Russian officials gave separate figures for drones heading toward Russia overnight from October 5 to 6. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said around 650 Ukrainian drones had approached the region and that most were downed at long range. Russia’s Defence Ministry said air defences intercepted and destroyed 868 fixed-wing drones between 8 p.m. on October 5 and 9 a.m. on October 6, including over Belgorod and Kursk regions and the Sea of Azov. Those figures are claims by Russian authorities.
The Russian Defence Ministry also said Geran drones struck radar stations in Odesa and Poltava regions, military depots and four data centres. Ukraine’s General Staff reported 184 combat engagements over the previous day and said the Ukrainian Air Force hit three areas where Russian troops were concentrated. The sides’ statements concern separate incidents and have not been independently verified.
