Former Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal’s registration with Getafe has stalled over the salary valuation set by LaLiga. ABC reports a 5-fold gap with the agreed terms, while other Spanish outlets confirm the dispute and registration delay.
ABC reported that a three-member independent committee valued the player’s contract at 5 times the amount agreed by Carvajal and Getafe. LaLiga has not approved his registration, although he has already completed a medical examination.
The newspaper said the assessment considered Carvajal’s salary in his final season at Real Madrid, his appearances last season, age, free-agent status, titles won over the past three seasons and the length of the proposed contract. Other Spanish outlets have also reported that the move is caught in LaLiga’s review, but have not confirmed the same valuation figure.
Getafe president Ángel Torres would need to provide a financial guarantee for the club to proceed. ABC reported that in January the club’s owner guaranteed 1.5 million euros to register four players.
Otherwise, Getafe may have to abandon the move or revisit it in the winter transfer window. AS reported that a final decision was expected after the committee’s review.
