The former Real Madrid defender has completed a medical, but his registration with Getafe still depends on approval under the league’s financial controls.
Sport-Express, citing Cadena SER, reported that LaLiga’s financial authorities considered the proposed annual salary of €400,000 for the 34-year-old unrealistically low. The radio station said Carvajal had previously earned about €10 million a year at Real Madrid.
AS cited a different figure, reporting that an independent panel valued the defender’s fair annual salary at about €2.6 million. The outlet said a final decision was expected on Monday, leaving the outcome of the registration unresolved.
Carvajal has been without a club since his Real Madrid contract ended over the summer. He had already undergone a medical in connection with a possible move to Getafe, but the deal still required LaLiga’s approval.
