Ashley Bruno Grillo appears from hospital on charge of murdering twin in Perth

Ashley Bruno Grillo, 29, attended court from hospital on October 10 after being charged with murdering his twin brother. Police found the victim’s body in a backyard in a Perth suburb following a relative’s request for a welfare check.
Officers went to the home on Nye Way in Orelia at about 2:20 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, to check on the occupants. They found the body of a 29-year-old man with visible injuries in the backyard. Homicide investigators and forensic officers joined the examination of the property.
Jessica Securo said on Friday that the body appeared to have been in the yard for several days. Forensic examination was needed to establish the time of death. She said the victim’s brother had been taken into custody and there was no continuing risk to the wider community.
Grillo was receiving treatment at Fiona Stanley Hospital. At Saturday’s hearing, the court was told he had been restrained to his hospital bed for the safety of staff. His Legal Aid lawyer raised serious concerns about his mental health and sought a hospital order.
His next appearance is scheduled for Friday, October 16. The murder allegation remains before the court. Securo asked for the family’s privacy to be respected as they dealt with the man’s death and said health and welfare support had been made available to police who attended the scene.
