Max adds dangerous-link warnings and automatic safety mode

Messenger Max announced on October 13 that it now checks links when users click them and automatically activates Safety Mode after a fraudster attempts to contact a user.

An automated system checks the address for threats when someone tries to open a link from the messenger. If the link is deemed dangerous, a pop-up warning appears, the platform's press service said.

A separate protection applies to users whom a fraudster has attempted to contact. Safety Mode switches on automatically for 24 hours. During that period, only people in the user's address book can call them or add them to chats.

Max's bot notifies the user when the restrictions are activated. Users can manage them manually in the Security section of the messenger's settings and can turn the mode off themselves. If they leave the settings unchanged, the temporary restrictions end automatically after a day.
