Mirziyoyev proposes economic cooperation programme with US through 2035
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed a joint trade, investment and technology cooperation programme with the United States through 2035.
He spoke in Samarkand at the opening of the second US-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council meeting. Participants included US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, presidential special envoy Sergio Gor and representatives of companies and banks.
Mirziyoyev said preparations for the meeting produced a package of 54 agreements and prospective initiatives worth about $12 billion. Cooperation priorities include advanced processing of critical minerals, energy, data centres, artificial intelligence, digital technology and workforce training.
He outlined the council's tasks: provide predictable conditions for American investors, help establish new industries and industrial centres, and support a long-term economic partnership.
Uzbekistan intends to offer investors projects with prepared sites, infrastructure, permits and documentation. A Direct Investment Fund has been established to support joint Uzbek and American participation in projects and share investment risks.
