Moscow Exchange index crosses 2,400 during October 9 evening trading

The Moscow Exchange index reached 2,403.57 during evening trading on October 9, crossing 2,400 for the first time since June 30. RIA Novosti reported a reading of 2,397.67 at 11:42 p.m. Moscow time, up 3.69% from the previous close.
The earlier high and the later reading were separate observations during the session. After crossing 2,400, the index was slightly below that threshold at the time specified by RIA. NEWS.ru separately reported an evening close of 2,401.8.
The rise came as Russia and the United States announced arrangements for Russian diesel supplies. Alexander Novak said Russia was beginning to ease export restrictions ahead of schedule. The US Treasury also issued temporary permission for transactions involving Russian diesel. These announcements concern prospective trade rather than confirmation that the additional supplies have been delivered.
