Witkoff says Miami talks addressed Ukraine peace efforts ahead of winter

US envoy Steve Witkoff said representatives of the United States, European partners, Ukraine and NATO met in Miami to discuss de-escalation and possible ways to end the war before winter.
In a post on X, Witkoff described the discussions as constructive. He identified the participants as representatives of the United States, the E3 European countries, the European Commission, Ukraine and NATO. His account framed ending the war before winter as an objective under discussion, rather than an agreed deadline.
The envoy said the meeting covered a broad range of issues, including Ukraine’s energy security ahead of the colder months and security arrangements intended to prevent future conflicts. His announcement did not set out the terms of a completed peace agreement, a ceasefire or an implementation schedule. The reported meeting therefore marks a diplomatic discussion, while the outcome of those efforts remains open.
