Nellore railway police return 50 recovered phones to their owners

Railway police in Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh, recovered 50 mobile phones valued at about ₹1 million and handed them back to their owners.

Deputy Nellore Railway Police Superintendent G. Muralidhar announced the results of a special drive on October 8. He said two teams were formed on the instructions of Railway Inspector General Rajakumari to trace phones lost or stolen by rail passengers.

Nellore Government Railway Police recovered 10 devices, Gudur six, Kavali nine, Ongole 15 and Chirala 10. The teams were led by Nellore Railway Circle Inspector A. Sudhakar and Ongole Railway Circle Inspector Sk. Moula Shariff.

Police used the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, IMEI tracking and other investigative methods. The recovered phones were handed to their owners at an event.

Muralidhar advised passengers who lose a phone to report it promptly at the nearest railway police station. He also urged travellers to watch their phones, cash and other valuables during journeys and to alert railway police to suspicious people or incidents.
