Onix Plus tops Brazil’s sedan sales in September

The Chevrolet Onix Plus led Brazil’s September sedan registrations with 5,350 units. Sedan registrations rose 0.9% month over month but made up only 7.6% of the passenger-car market.

Brazil registered 5,350 Chevrolet Onix Plus sedans in September, more than any other model in the segment. The Volkswagen Virtus ranked second with 2,315, followed by the Hyundai HB20S with 2,013. The figures attributed to Fenabrave in the industry report match published monthly registration tables.

The top 10 also included the Fiat Cronos (1,776), BYD King (1,666), Honda City (1,188), Nissan Versa (795), Toyota Corolla (474), BMW 320i (193) and Volkswagen Jetta (181). The Onix Plus ranked 12th among all passenger cars, ahead of some popular crossovers in the overall table.

Brazil recorded 16,448 sedan registrations for the month, up 0.9% from August. Sedans accounted for 7.6% of the 216,366 passenger cars registered, while SUVs and crossovers made up 59.43%. Results varied by segment: compact HB20S registrations rose 65.5%, while the mid-size Toyota Corolla fell 44.6% from August.

According to the report, 4,280 of the 5,350 Onix Plus registrations were direct sales—deliveries by automakers to corporate customers, rental companies and other categories. From January through September, the model accumulated 34,215 registrations, remaining Brazil’s best-selling sedan.
