Police investigate alleged shortage of 6,302 tonnes of paddy at Telangana mill

Police have registered a case against two partners of Shiva Parboiled Industries after an inspection in Yadadri-Bhongir district found a shortfall in government paddy stocks allocated for milling.
The inspection took place on October 7 at the mill in Raigiri village. Officials and technical staff from the Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited (TGSCSCL) checked the paddy stocks and custom-milled rice deliveries. Under the arrangement, the government supplies paddy to mills, which must return a specified quantity of processed rice.
Police said the inspection found a shortfall of about 6,302.80 metric tonnes of government paddy. The missing stock was valued at ₹23,03,67,347, including applicable penalties. Regional outlet Namasthe Telangana separately reported a shortage of about 6,302.8 tonnes and put the value of the paddy at approximately ₹18.49 crore before penalties.
TGSCSCL district manager Dachepalli Harikrishna, 47, filed a complaint with Bhongir Rural police. It alleged that the mill management had failed to account for the allocated paddy and meet its obligation to deliver custom-milled rice back to the government.
Police registered a case against mill partners Gampa Nagender and Manchala Ravinder. Investigators are examining how the stocks went missing and whether government paddy was illegally diverted. The allegations remain under investigation.
