Paris mayor asks residents to help clean streets after unrest

Paris Mayor Emmanuel Gregoire called on residents on October 18 to join municipal teams cleaning the streets after Saturday's unrest.

The mayor said hundreds of Parisians were already helping restore the city. He said he was joining volunteers and visiting affected shopkeepers.

Municipal crews have been working since the night. City authorities reported cleaning roads and pavements, removing debris and restoring damaged public spaces.

The municipality called employees back from leave to reinforce teams on the ground, according to its statement.
