Nellore distributes permanent house titles to 939 families
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu launched the distribution of permanent house titles to 939 families in Nellore's Sarvepalli Katta area on October 11.
The beneficiaries received ownership rights covering 22.31 acres of land, valued by the government at approximately 6 billion rupees. Of those receiving titles, 701 were women, according to an official release.
Naidu joined the ceremony remotely from his camp office. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana handed out the documents in Nellore, where district collector Himanshu Shukla also attended.
Narayana said families had waited decades for permanent titles. He added that officials were working to complete pending TIDCO housing projects and transfer them to eligible beneficiaries.
The government also plans to distribute titles to eligible families in Nellore's Jafar Sahib Canal area. Shukla said approximately 2,600 titles had already been distributed to poorer households in the city, with another 4,000 planned.
The official release cited an earlier programme in Bhagat Singh Colony, where 1,407 families received titles covering 36 acres last year.
