
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said questions about French police conduct during student protests should be put to Western human rights advocates and politicians.
RIA Novosti reported that journalists asked Peskov why Western rights advocates and politicians, who often speak about human rights, had not commented on incidents at demonstrations in France.
High school students have been protesting for a second week, according to the agency. Their grievances include overloaded timetables, teacher shortages and other problems in education. Some demonstrations were accompanied by unrest.
RIA Novosti said more than 6,000 people had been detained as of its report, most of them minors. An Associated Press report on Oct. 6 also described nationwide student protests calling for better school conditions and more funding.
