
Eight in 10 respondents named Vladimir Putin as one of the world’s most influential leaders, according to a poll by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center, or VCIOM.
VCIOM said its VCIOM-Sputnik nationwide telephone survey was conducted on Oct. 6 among 1,600 Russian residents aged 18 and over. The maximum margin of error is 2.5 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, the center said. VCIOM published the survey results on its website.
According to the published results, 71% of respondents believe Russia has become stronger and more self-assured during Putin’s presidency. Another 69% said Russia is treated with greater consideration internationally, while 68% expressed confidence that the country can overcome difficulties. Putin turned 74 on Oct. 7.
