Vladimir Saldo said the authorities in the Russian-controlled part of Kherson region would welcome proposals from Ukraine if they improved conditions for residents of Oleshky and were not merely intended to generate publicity.
The Russian-appointed head of the regional administration was answering journalists’ questions about the possibility of a local ceasefire in the city on the left bank of the Dnipro River.
“Any action by the enemy that could improve the situation, reduce tensions and create more favorable conditions for residents — any such proposal, if it is effective, will be welcomed. And if it is not simply a proposal to create a media event,” Saldo said, according to RBC.
Saldo did not name any specific proposals or terms for a possible ceasefire in his response. Oleshky is about 5 km from Kherson. RBC said its report was being updated.
