Delhi Police receive complaint over Gandhi’s entry into All India Radio building

Akashvani staff filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and others, alleging they forced their way into the broadcaster’s premises during an opposition protest. The demonstration was tied to demands directed at the Election Commission.

Delhi Police received a complaint from Akashvani staff against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, as well as MPs and others accompanying them. The complainants alleged that the politicians forced their way into the All India Radio building, the Times of India reported. The source report does not say that an FIR was registered.

Gandhi and other opposition leaders held a sit-in at Akashvani Bhawan for several hours after police stopped INDIA bloc MPs from marching to the Election Commission’s office. The protesters sought a meeting with the commission and objected to alleged irregularities in voter rolls, describing them as “vote theft.” Rahul Gandhi entered the All India Radio premises around noon.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi climbed over police barricades during the march. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, NCP-SP MP Supriya Sule and other opposition leaders also took part. Police later removed protesters from the building and took some detainees to New Police Lines in Kingsway Camp.

The Times of India reported that police detained about 250 people, including 50 MPs, on Tuesday evening and that Congress leaders were released at about 10 p.m. The Indian Express and India Today also reported the hours-long protest, the entry into Akashvani Bhawan and the detentions.
