Pakistan’s Super League will begin on March 18, 2027, and conclude with the final on May 2. The dates could overlap with the Indian Premier League, which is also considering an earlier start.
The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed the PSL 12 window after consultations with franchises and other stakeholders at a governing council meeting in London on September 1. The league will feature eight teams, the expanded format introduced in 2026 when Hyderabad Kingsmen joined. The previous season also saw the traditional player draft replaced by an auction for the first time.
The IPL 2027 schedule has not been announced. IPL governing council chairman Arun Dhumal has said the BCCI is considering an early-March start and a finish by mid-May. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told PTI officials were discussing a start around March 10 and a final by May 15. He cited late-season rain and pre-monsoon conditions, along with heat that can make matches uncomfortable for players and spectators.
A clash would put the leagues in competition for overseas players and audiences. Last season several foreign cricketers left PSL contracts before joining IPL teams as replacements. Australia’s Spencer Johnson moved from Quetta Gladiators to Chennai Super Kings. Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka moved from Lahore Qalandars to Rajasthan Royals, while Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani left Islamabad United for Kolkata Knight Riders. PSL later imposed a two-year ban on Muzarabani.
Peshawar Zalmi won the 2026 PSL title after beating debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen in the final at Gaddafi Stadium. The match drew a record crowd of 32,461. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the league aimed to build on the previous season’s records for crowds and broadcasts.
