PSL 2027 window set as league eyes another possible IPL overlap

Pakistan’s PSL 12 will run from March 18 to May 2, 2027. The IPL schedule has not been announced, but a possible early start could put the tournaments on overlapping dates.

The Pakistan Cricket Board set the dates after consulting the owners of the eight franchises and other stakeholders. The final is scheduled for May 2. The league will retain the eight-team format introduced in 2026.

An overlap with the IPL is not confirmed because the Indian league has yet to publish its 2027 schedule. IPL Governing Council chairman Arun Dhumal has said organisers are considering an earlier start. Indian cricket board secretary Devajit Saikia told PTI that officials were discussing a possible window from around March 10 to May 15 to avoid late-season heat and rain.

Last season, several overseas players withdrew from PSL commitments before joining IPL franchises as replacements. Australia’s Spencer Johnson left Quetta Gladiators and joined Chennai Super Kings. Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka moved from Lahore Qalandars to Rajasthan Royals, while Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani left Islamabad United for Kolkata Knight Riders. The PSL later banned Muzarabani for two years.

PSL 12 will be the league’s second season with eight teams. The previous season also saw the traditional player draft replaced by an auction for the first time. The PCB said details of the fixtures, venues and ticketing would be announced later.
