Putin pledges continued support for farmers in holiday address

Vladimir Putin congratulated agricultural and food-processing workers on October 11 and said the Russian state would continue helping the sector overcome difficulties.

The president described Russia as one of the world's leading agricultural producers and thanked workers for their efforts. RIA Novosti reported his assessment of the industry.

According to Interfax, Putin acknowledged difficulties facing agricultural businesses and farms, including sanctions, infrastructure and export barriers, and rising costs.

He promised continued assistance to farmers. The reported remarks did not specify new funding amounts or a separate support programme. Russia marks the professional holiday for agricultural and processing-industry workers on the second Sunday in October, which falls on October 11 in 2026.
