Kim Jong-un attends performance marking ruling party's 81st anniversary

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un attended a celebration in Pyongyang on October 10 marking the Workers' Party of Korea's 81st founding anniversary, Yonhap reported the following day, citing North Korean state media.

Patriotic songs, acrobatics and dance featured at Pyongyang Indoor Stadium. The Korean Central News Agency said the programme emphasised loyalty to the party and its leader.

Party and military officials, Pyongyang residents, diplomatic envoys and members of foreign missions were among the audience. Kim greeted participants and expressed satisfaction with the performance, according to the North Korean agency.

Yonhap described this year's celebrations as more modest than those held for anniversaries ending in zero or five. The party's 80th anniversary in 2025 included a large nighttime military parade in Pyongyang, where North Korea unveiled the Hwasong-20 intercontinental ballistic missile.
