
Piped water will be unavailable in parts of the Adyar, Perungudi and Sholinganallur zones from 9 a.m. on October 10 until 9 a.m. on October 11 during maintenance at the Nemmeli desalination plant.
The Nemmeli desalination plant is designed to treat 110 million litres of seawater a day. During the work, piped water will be unavailable in several neighbourhoods in the south of the city. The Hindu lists Indira Nagar, Kottivakkam, Neelankarai, Sholinganallur and Kottur Garden.
DT Next, citing a notice from the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB), published a fuller list. It includes Tiruvanmiyur, Pallipattu and RK Mutt Road in Adyar, as well as Palavakkam, Pallikaranai, Madipakkam and Puzhuthivakkam in Perungudi. The listed areas in Sholinganallur also include Akkarai, Ezhil Nagar, Kannagi Nagar, Karapakkam, Perumbakkam, Vettuvankeni, Semmancheri and Okkiyam-Thoraipakkam.
Chennai Metrowater has asked residents to store water ahead of the interruption. Water tankers can be booked online for urgent needs.
