Former world No. 1 Rohan Bopanna and 2023 Australian Open men’s doubles champion Rinky Hijikata will headline teams in the eighth season of the Tennis Premier League. Matches are scheduled for December 8-13 in Hyderabad, with the player auction set for October 12 in Mumbai.
Bopanna will represent the Gurgaon Grand Slammers. Hijikata is set to play for the Rajasthan Rangers. The Australian also reached the 2025 Wimbledon men’s doubles final and has been ranked as high as No. 23 in doubles.
Eight teams have announced their marquee players. Argentina’s Roman Burruchaga, ranked No. 60 in singles, is the highest-ranked singles player in the league. Frenchman Terence Atmane will represent the Mumbai Royals, Czech player Dalibor Svrcina the Lucknow Blazers and Croatia’s Dino Prizmic the Hyderabad Strikers.
The lineup also includes Australian Adam Walton, who will play for defending champions GS Delhi Aces, and Frenchman Alexandre Muller, who returns to the Gujarat Panthers. Prizmic won the 2023 Roland Garros boys’ singles title and reached a career-high ranking of No. 70 this year.
Bopanna said he expects strong competition and welcomed the mix of experienced players and young Indian talent. Hijikata said the league’s fast-paced format, in which a match is played over 25 points, was one reason he was looking forward to making his debut.
Season eight will feature men’s and women’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles. The tournament is scheduled to run in Hyderabad from December 8 to 13.
