Russia expands use of digital birth certificates in Max

Parents will be able to verify children's identities through Digital ID in Max for travel, medical care and other services. The government has expanded the permitted uses, the Digital Development Ministry said on October 14.
Electronic details may be used when buying tickets, confirming eligibility for discounted or free travel and boarding transport. The list also covers treatment under compulsory medical insurance and visits to multifunctional public service centres.
The digital document will also be accepted at museums and cultural, educational and sporting events, including for discounted tickets. The service will become available at individual organisations as they connect.
Parents can find the details in the Family and Children section of Digital ID and present them using a QR code. Use of the electronic document is voluntary, and paper birth certificates remain valid.
This method of confirming a child's details was previously introduced for hotel check in. More than three thousand Russian hotels have joined the service, according to the ministry.
