Russia says its forces took control of Holubkove in Zaporizhzhia region

The Defence Ministry said troops from the Vostok group captured the village north of Samoilivka. Independent confirmation was not cited in the reports.

Russia’s Defence Ministry said units of the Vostok group took control of Holubkove in the Zaporizhzhia region. RBC and Vedomosti reported the ministry’s statement. Their reports did not cite independent confirmation of control over the settlement.

Holubkove lies north of Samoilivka, which the ministry said its forces had captured on October 5. Vedomosti, citing the ministry, said soldiers from the 36th Guards Motor Rifle Brigade of the 29th Army’s Vostok group took part in the operation.

RBC said Novomykolaivka is about 10 kilometres to the northwest. The settlement was a district centre in Zaporizhzhia region until 2020 and was incorporated into Zaporizhzhia district after Ukraine’s administrative reform.
