Electric sirens and loudspeakers will sound across Russian regions on Friday, October 9, while television and radio broadcasts are temporarily replaced with information messages. The test is scheduled.
The Emergency Situations Ministry urged residents to remain calm when they hear the signal. It advised people to tune in to any public television or radio channel and listen to the announcement. The information will also be available in the ministry’s mobile app.
The comprehensive tests assess whether alert equipment works and whether emergency services are ready to respond to emergencies. The ministry says regional tests take place twice a year, in March and October.
The previous comprehensive test was held in March 2026. The alert system is designed to notify people about a threat or an actual natural or man-made emergency.
