Russian consulate in Ho Chi Minh City says it received no outbreak notice

The Russian diplomatic mission told RIA Novosti that Vietnamese authorities had not notified it of a Coxsackie outbreak in the south. It also said a Russian family had complained to the consulate more than one month ago.

Vietnamese authorities did not inform the Russian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City about a Coxsackie virus outbreak in the south of the country, the diplomatic mission told RIA Novosti.

In its October 6 report, RIA also said the consulate had reported that a Russian family contacted it with a complaint about the virus more than a month earlier. The report gave no patient count, specific location for the reported outbreak or laboratory findings.

The statement reflects information available to the Russian diplomatic mission; on its own, it does not establish the scale of illness in Vietnam.
