Rodrigo Santoro and Camila Pitanga will star in Marcelo Gomes’ “Garota da Urca,” a comedy about a married couple nearing 50 and confronting questions of middle age.
Variety reported that the Brazilian actors, who are 51 and 49, respectively, will headline the film. Leonardo Moreira and Luciana Paes are also attached as writers, according to the magazine.
Gomes said the story follows a married couple approaching 50. He described the project as an exploration of how people change over time and whether they can preserve the feeling of a first encounter. The film’s other plot details have not been disclosed.
Santoro and Pitanga last appeared together in the 2004 Brazilian soap opera “Mulheres Apaixonadas,” playing Diogo and Luciana. Santoro’s recent credits include “O Último Azul” (2025), while Pitanga appeared in “Malês” (2024) and starred in the 2025 soap opera “Beleza Fatal.” No release date was announced in the reports.
