Kostecki and Hazelwood win Bathurst 1000 as Bates and Seton take third

Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood won the Bathurst 1000 at Mount Panorama on October 11. Pole-sitters Zach Bates and Aaron Seton finished third.
Will Brown and Scott Pye took second place. Supercars’ official classification shows Bates and Seton completed all 161 scheduled laps.
The 22-year-old Bates converted his provisional pole from Friday qualifying into the top starting position during Saturday’s top-10 shoot-out. He became the first rookie to take Bathurst 1000 pole since 2001.
On Friday, Bates became the first driver in the current generation of car to lap below two minutes and four seconds. His Saturday performance denied Kostecki a fourth consecutive pole for the event.
Seton drove the opening stint and held an early advantage, as reported by The Sydney Morning Herald. The completed results supersede that opening-stage picture: the pole-winning crew secured a podium place, while Kostecki and Hazelwood took the victory.
