The Gauteng High Court in Pretoria struck Oupa “Bafana” Sindane’s latest bid to challenge a subpoena from the Madlanga Commission after he failed to file the required papers.
The Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has struck from its roll Oupa Jossiah “Bafana” Sindane’s latest attempt to block a subpoena from the Madlanga Commission. SABC News reported that he had failed to file the necessary papers. Sindane is due to answer questions about messages exchanged with Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni.
The messages, which the commission is examining for indications of an alleged extortion racket, were read into the hearing record last week. A court had previously dismissed Sindane’s application to prevent the messages from being made public and ordered him to pay costs.
The remaining issue is Sindane’s response to the evidence before the commission. SABC News says public hearings are scheduled to resume on 9 November 2026. The commission is investigating alleged links between police officials and criminal networks; the alleged extortion remains an allegation for the inquiry to examine.
