Sunitha Krishnan says her voter-roll revision form was rejected

Padma Shri recipient and social activist Sunitha Krishnan has told The Hindu that her enumeration form was rejected during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. She said her husband, Rajesh Touchriver, received a similar notification.
Krishnan said a brief message arrived on October 9 without giving a reason. After contacting the responsible polling-area official, she was told the problem concerned failure to link her entry to her parents' details in the 2002 revision. That explanation is presented through her account.
She said she was already an adult in 2002 but had not registered as a voter. She also left the parental information blank because she had left home young and maintained little contact with her family.
According to Krishnan, the couple first registered about three years ago and voted in the 2024 elections. They submitted the current enumeration forms online because a polling-area official did not visit their home to distribute or collect them.
Krishnan also said she received no notice requiring one of 12 listed documents to establish citizenship. In her assessment, the deadline for submitting Form 6 to seek re-enrolment in the final roll had already been missed.
The couple plans to apply again with their parents' details from the earlier revision. Krishnan continues to support the principle of checking electoral rolls but believes the procedure went wrong in her case.
