Smolensk completes repairs on Popova and Zoi Kosmodemyanskoy streets

Smolensk has completed repairs on Popova and Zoi Kosmodemyanskoy streets, Governor Vasily Anokhin reported on October 9. The city plans to repair nearly 26 kilometers of roads by the end of 2026.
RIA Novosti reported that 4.28 kilometers were repaired on Popova in the Promyshlenny district. Asphalt surfacing was fully replaced, with new sidewalks added and existing ones restored.
Bus shelters were replaced and a new stopping area with a shelter was installed. Work also included tactile paving, road markings and pedestrian railings.
On Zoi Kosmodemyanskoy in the Leninsky district, 575 meters of roadway received new surfacing. Sidewalks, tactile paving and markings were also added. Anokhin highlighted road safety because a school is nearby.
Across the region, more than 101 kilometers of regional roads are scheduled for repairs by year-end. The governor said the work is part of the Infrastructure for Life national project. The city and regional figures are full-year plans, while repairs on the two named streets are complete.
