Solodov orders study of backup internet routes for Kamchatka

Kamchatka Governor Vladimir Solodov has ordered officials to examine backup data routes to keep internet services running during submarine cable repairs and outages, the regional government said.

Options under consideration include a route through the Magadan region and a submarine cable connecting to Chukotka. Specialists will need to assess costs and discuss the project with neighboring regions and telecommunications operators.

Solodov also ordered monitoring of the actual quality of internet services in remote villages, rather than focusing solely on increased channel capacity.
