Spain to auction six- and 12-month Treasury bills

Spain’s Treasury will auction Letras del Tesoro maturing in six and 12 months on October 6. The previous sale, in September, set marginal yields of 2.641% and 2.846%, respectively.

Spain’s Treasury is holding an auction of short-term government bills on October 6, offering securities with six- and 12-month maturities. The date and maturities are listed in the Tesoro Público calendar.

The previous auction of these bills took place on September 1. Treasury results put the marginal yield at 2.641% for six-month bills and 2.846% for 12-month bills. Those rates provide a reference for the new sale but do not determine its outcome.

Letras del Tesoro are discount securities with no periodic coupon payment. An investor’s return comes from the difference between the purchase price and the face value repaid at maturity. Spain’s Treasury plans to raise 55 billion euros in 2026, including 50 billion through medium- and long-term debt, with the remainder from bill issuance.

The next bill auctions are scheduled for November 3 and December 1. The actual yield for the October sale will be known once the auction results are released.
