Spanish unions demand at least 7% minimum wage rise in 2027

CCOO and UGT propose raising the minimum to around 1,306 euros a month across 14 annual payments. The government has not yet decided.
CCOO secretary-general Unai Sordo said the increase should be at least 7%. Spreading the same annual amount across 12 payments would put the monthly figure above 1,500 euros. These figures reflect different payment schedules, rather than different annual wages.
The current minimum is 1,221 euros a month across 14 payments. It rose by 3.1%, or 37 euros, in 2026.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Carlos Cuerpo said the government would wait for recommendations from an expert commission before determining the increase.
The unions also advocate sectoral wage increases of 4–7%, with larger rises in lower-paid industries. Income and housing affordability demands form part of the agenda for the previously announced general strike on November 11.
