St Petersburg begins preventive road treatment against ice
Municipal services in St Petersburg have begun treating roads against ice following colder weather and overnight frosts, the city administration said on October 19.
Crews are paying particular attention to areas near bodies of water, embankments and overpasses. The administration said average daily temperatures had not exceeded 10 degrees over the past week and overnight frosts had begun within the city.
St Petersburg's chief forecaster, Alexander Kolesov, expects frost overnight into October 20, including in the city centre. Temperatures could fall to minus 1 degree, according to his forecast.
