Tyumen pensioner hands 12 million roubles to fraudsters’ courier

A pensioner in Tyumen handed 12 million roubles to a fraudsters’ courier after a caller claimed his money was at risk of being stolen, the Tyumen regional prosecutor’s office said.

According to the office, the unknown caller persuaded the man that unauthorised withdrawals could be made from his account. The caller presented handing over cash to a courier as a way to keep the funds safe.

The victim was born in 1956. A criminal fraud investigation is under way, with prosecutors supervising its progress and outcome.
