The city's culture department announced the appointment. Tsvetkova succeeds Alexander Fokin, who became acting rector of GITIS.

Tsvetkova joined Moscow's culture department in December 2023. She previously served as deputy head of the theatre department that she will now lead.

She graduated from the theatre studies faculty of the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts and undertook further professional training at the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute. Her professional background is in culture and theatre management.

Interfax reported that Fokin was appointed at GITIS in September. The culture department announced the change in its theatre leadership on October 12.
