The quarterback is set to replace injured Faizon Brandon in Saturday’s game against Arkansas.
Quarterback George MacIntyre will make his first start for Tennessee when the Volunteers face Arkansas on Saturday. CBS Sports, citing sources, reports that Faizon Brandon is still dealing with a shoulder injury sustained in the game against Texas two weeks ago. Brandon tried to play against Auburn but could not finish the game.
MacIntyre replaced him in the second quarter against Auburn and helped Tennessee to a 24–14 win. He completed 8 of 10 passes for 86 yards. The Volunteers did most of their damage on the ground: DeSean Bishop rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns.
MacIntyre will now make his first start on the road in Fayetteville. CBS noted that Arkansas’ defense allows an average of 28.4 points per game, among the worst figures in the SEC. After Arkansas, Tennessee is scheduled to face Alabama on October 17. The starting quarterback for that game could depend on Brandon’s recovery and MacIntyre’s performance in the upcoming matchup.
